This matters for American retirees because Medicare cards do not prove Ecuador health coverage, a 401(k) withdrawal does not automatically prove a pension, and a bank balance does not prove a pensionado visa unless it fits the category. Investors have a different issue: the $48,200 investment proof must be traceable, and bank compliance may ask where the funds came from.
When To Delete, Replace, Or Wait
If the portal lets you replace a file before final submission, replace the defective file and keep a copy of both versions. If the application has already been submitted, do not assume you can freely change the record without consequences.

- Replace the file when the problem is size, format, glare, missing page, or a simple upload failure before submission.
- Prepare a new document when the FBI check is stale, the apostille came from the wrong authority, the translation is incomplete, or the certificate itself is defective.
